  1. It is the month of Thanksgiving. Let's remember how much God has blessed you this year and glory Him.
  2. Those who have not been baptized but want to be baptized, please talk to pastor about the procedure. Baptism will be conducted on November 16th.
  3. Pastor Kang is doing home visitation. For scheduling, please report to Angie.
  4. Please volunteer to come early and prepare for the service on Sundays.

3. To the measure of the fullness of God
  • Love surpasses knowledge
  • The fullness of God

  • How often do you pray to God for strength? How do you know that the Holy Spirit working within you?
  • What was your recent experience of the love of Christ? Does your experience with God meet up to your expectation?
  • In what ways your experience of God surpasses your knowledge of Him? What would it be like to be filled with love to the measure of the fullness of God?

Perseverance of the Saints
Luke 22:54~62(John 21:15~18)

1. Meaning of perseverance
  • not that salvation is certain if we have once believed
  • but that perseverance in holiness is certain if we have truly believed
2. Chief misunderstanding: A tendency to relax watchful effort to grow in grace because true Christians will not fall away totally, is an evidence that we are not in a gracious state

3. Certainty of success
  • not that persistent effort on our part is not necessary
  • but that in this effort we are certain of success
4. Ground of perseverance
  • God's decree of election
  • The intercessory work of Christ
  • The constant indwelling of the Holy Spirit


Discussion
  • Are you sure of your salvation? What makes you think that way?
  • Can a person believe in Christ and eventually deny Him later? Then, how should we take his first confession of faith?
  • Is salvation dependent upon whether you persevere in this world? How does the lesson on perseverance give us comport and assurance?

  • Repent daily

  2. Do you make daily repentance? How does it help your relationship with God? What would be your tips for other people with regard repentance?
  3. Do you have anything you have not yet repented before God? Would you like to do it this week?

  • You believe that you are saved by faith
  • You believe that the Word is true
  • You are united with Christ by faith
3. What benefits do you receive by faith?
  • You receive all the grace of Christ
  • You need to strengthen you faith

  1. How would you define what faith is? What is it like to have faith in a practical term?
  2. When do you need faith most? How do you manage yourself other times when you are not particularly conscious of faith?
  3. Share your weakness in your Christian life and suggest for each other as to how faith can help your weakness.

  • Displeasure of the Father: chastisement
  • But never cut off from the fatherly love

1. Justification for Abraham
  • By faith was Abraham justified
  • Faith, then and now
2. Justification without works
  • Why not works? for work wages are not a gift
  • God justified us when we were the wicked
3. Justification is a free grace
  • David's envy: a new status without works
  • Blessed are those whose past status is covered

  1. Have you had ay incidents because of your status? What was the most unpleasant thing about it? Have you tried to change it? Did work in the way you wanted?
  2. To be called righteous means a new status for us before God. Does a new status mean special or different to you compared to your prior status as a sinner?
  3. You are now called righteous even if you did not work for it. How does that message affect your life? How does it motivate you to share it with your meighbors and friends?

2. Freedom within the boundary
  • How free?: all minus one
  • Freedom dependent on God's provision
3. The desire of the will
  • Free and happy decision to obey God
  • Not a matter of choice

  1. How free do you think you are politically, socially, economically and morally? What is it like to be a free person in this world? What do you think limits or hinders your freedom? And how free can you be?
  2. Why and how did the freedom cause to sin against God, when human begins are created to be by God?
  3. What is the common misunderstanding about the freedom of will? How could it be corrected or supplemented?

4. We represent Christ in threefold ways: prophetic, priestly and kingly
