God's Children(WCF.12)
Romans 8:12~17

1. You will live by the Spirit
  • Way of life: to live by the Spirit
  • Way of death: to live by the sinful nature
2. Privileges for the sons/children of God
  • Liberty in Christ
  • Access to the throne of grace with boldness
  • Enables to cry, Abba Father
3. Discipline of the children
  • Displeasure of the Father: chastisement
  • But never cut off from the fatherly love

  1. How do you take that a nature way of life for God's children is to live the Holy Spirit? What are you practical suggestions for spiritual living?
  2. How is it life to call God "Abba Father"? How does it affect your way of life?
  3. How is it like to be free in father's love? What is your attitude toward the final judgment as God's children?

Justification by Faith
Romans 4:1~8 (WCF.11)

1. Justification for Abraham
  • By faith was Abraham justified
  • Faith, then and now
2. Justification without works
  • Why not works? for work wages are not a gift
  • God justified us when we were the wicked
3. Justification is a free grace
  • David's envy: a new status without works
  • Blessed are those whose past status is covered


Discussion

  1. Have you had ay incidents because of your status? What was the most unpleasant thing about it? Have you tried to change it? Did work in the way you wanted?
  2. To be called righteous means a new status for us before God. Does a new status mean special or different to you compared to your prior status as a sinner?
  3. You are now called righteous even if you did not work for it. How does that message affect your life? How does it motivate you to share it with your meighbors and friends?

1. Formula of Salvation
  • By the Word : Knowledge of Christ
  • By the Spirit : Believe in your heart
2. No Christ, No Salvation
  • No difference between Jew and Gentile
  • Confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord"
3. A beautiful work
  • The work of men
  • The work of God

Discussion
  1. Share your case of regeneration. What role did the Word play in your case of regeneration as you remember?
  2. Do you think a man can be saved without knowing Christ? If someone claims as such, how would you answer it?
  3. What would you do this week as an effort for "a beautiful work"?
